When: Saturday 22nd June. Meet at the Goods Shed at 5:00pm
The theoretical session will run even in inclement weather. If there is too much cloud cover or it is raining the
practical session will proceed on another evening to be agreed with the participants.
5:00pm Theoretical Session – 1 ½ hours
6:30pm Coffee break – ¼ hour
6:45pm Travel ¼ hour – Kilcunda Trestle Bridge
7:00pm Practical session – 2 hours
There will be a full moon on the 22nd of June but it does not rise until around 9:30pm. This will provide over an hour for our Milky Way shots and for those who want to stay on until 9:30 we may capture some moon rise shots as well. A Bass Coast Camera Club Learning Experience This is a Bass Coast Camera Club learning experience. It is not a course as there will not be a professional to teach and guide. The experience will be led by Gayle Marien. Web based resources will be used for reference.
The rationale for this is threefold:
1. Night Sky course providers are charging between $85 and $110 per participant
2. A successful session is weather dependent. If you are booked on a course this is sometimes not changed but
merely adapted, meaning participants might only end up doing light painting or landscape photography. As a
club organised experience the evening can be changed to a more suitable night in the event of inclement
3. We will have the flexibility to run overtime if required.
Members will learn the basic camera settings for night sky photography
Each member will complete the evening with a photo of the milky way core What to Bring
Warm clothes and good walking shoes
A torch or headlamp
Your DSLR or SLR camera with your widest angle lens
Fully charged battery
Your camera manual
A remote control if you have one
